STAANDD is an architectural design firm based in New Delhi, founded by architect Samarth Trehan.
At STAANDD, we approach each project as a chance to redefine what’s possible—where bold ideas, experimentation, and context come together to create spaces that challenge expectations. Our work is driven by the belief that architecture should not just respond to its environment, but also shape and transform it.
Samarth Trehan brings a multidisciplinary perspective to design, drawing from his passions for music, photography, and travel. This diverse background fuels his curiosity and informs a process that blends creativity, precision, and new ways of thinking, pushing the boundaries of architecture in every project.
With experience gained from working alongside leading practices and contributing to a wide range of commercial and hospitality projects, Samarth applies a forward-looking mindset to every challenge. His designs are not just innovative—they are rooted in context, functionality, and the belief that great architecture is transformative.
Site & Context
Every project is influenced by its geographical and immediate context. The design of the building and analysis of the site go hand-in-hand to generate aesthetically progressive, artful solutions. We consider not just the geographical, economic and physical characteristics of the project underway, but the intangible socio-cultural and psychological impact of the project on its surroundings and vice-versa.
Honesty of Materials
A material is used where it is the most appropriate based on its qualities. Its nature is rarely concealed. Furthermore, the materials define the quality of the space and are intended to suit their specific use. All of which have an impact on the psychology of the user through daily interaction with the built environment.
Expression in Technique
Often enough, we see a repetition in the expression of various designers in pursuit of functionality, we seek direct and honest approaches to design problems in the pursuit of evolutionary and elegant solutions. The construction details are function-oriented, aimed at a longevity in performance.
Communicate, Inform and Educate
Effective communication can help to foster a good working relationship between the client-architect, which can in turn improve morale and efficiency for the team at work. Client involvement in all contextual decisions, aiming to agree and establish clear objectives and aesthetics; heightening the user experience of the space.
